Confined Space Entry; Spanish

Haz. Spanish Confined Space8 hr;Entry

This Confined Space Entry course, taught in Spanish, is an eight hour course. Many workplaces contain areas that are considered  confined spaces  because while they are not necessarily designed for people, they are large enough for workers to enter and perform certain jobs. A confined space also has limited or restricted means for entry or exit and is not designed for continuous occupancy. Confined spaces include, but are not limited to:  tanks, vessels, silos, storage bins, hoppers, vaults, pits, manholes, tunnels, equipment housings, ductwork, pipelines, etc. OSHA uses the term "permit-required confined space" (permit space) to describe a confined space that has one or more of the following characteristics: contains or has the potential to contain a hazardous atmosphere; contains a material that has the potential to engulf an entrant; has walls that converge inward or floors that slope downward and taper into a smaller area which could trap or asphyxiate an entrant; or contains any other recognized safety or health hazard, such as unguarded machinery, exposed live wires, or heat stress. Workers have a right to a safe workplace. The law requires employers to provide their employees with working conditions that are free of known dangers, and to be trained for the work that they will be performing.

Fall Protection

Fall Protection

Falls are among the most common causes of serious work related injuries and deaths.  Employers must set up the work place to prevent employees from falling off of overhead platforms, elevated work stations or into holes in the floor and walls.  OSHA requires that fall protection be provided at elevations of four feet in general industry workplaces, five feet in shipyards, six feet in the construction industry and eight feet in long shoring operations.     In addition, OSHA requires that fall protection be provided when working over dangerous equipment and machinery, regardless of the fall distance. OSHA requires employers to:
  • Train workers about job hazards in a language that they can understand.
  •  Select and provide required personal protective equipment at no cost to workers.
  •  Keep floors in work areas in a clean and  whenever possible, a dry condition.
  •  Provide working conditions that are free of known dangers.

Globally Harmonized System (GHS)

GHS

The Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) is now aligned with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). This update to the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) provides a common and coherent approach to classifying chemicals and communicating hazard information on labels and safety data sheets. Once implemented, the revised standard will improve the quality and consistency of hazard information in the workplace, making it safer for workers by providing easily understandable information on appropriate handling and safe use of hazardous chemicals.  The first compliance date of the revised HCS is December 1, 2013. By that time, employers must have trained their workers on the new label elements and the SDS format. This training is needed early in the transition process since workers are already beginning to see the new labels and SDSs on the chemicals in their workplace. To ensure employees have the information they need to better protect themselves from chemical hazards in the workplace during the transition period, it is critical that employees understand the new label and SDS formats. This course is taught in four hours.

Spanish: Globally Harmonized System (GHS)

GHS-Spanish

By that time employers must have trained their workers on the new label elements and the SDS format. This training is needed early in the transition process since workers are already beginning to see the new labels and SDSs on the chemicals in their workplace. To ensure employees have the information they need to better protect themselves from chemical hazards in the workplace during the transition period, it is critical that employees understand the new label and SDS formats. This course is taught in Spanish, in four hours.
